GOLDEN HOUR, DRAMATIC MOUNTAINS, THE LAST SUN-RAYS, MOUNTAIN cottage PASS, DOLOMITE, ITALY
WE WERE DRIVING FROM VENICE TO THE NORTH ITALY, UP-UP-UP AND UP. IT WAS AROUND 20C IN VENICE, WHEN WE ARRIVED TO THIS SPOT THE LAKE IN FRONT OF THESE MOUNTAINS WAS COVERED WITH ICE, ALL THE REST COVERED WITH SNOW. NOTHING APART FROM WHITE/GREY COULD BE SEEN. No sign of mountains, just nothing. It was just before the sunset. I started to take pictures of snow waves, not expecting anything else to see. Suddenly, just when sun starts setting the magic happens. It looks like somebody's invisible hand started to open a curtain in front of us. It was just miraculous! This was a breath of wind! Changing light continuously changed the picture in front of us! BREATH -TAKING and unforgettable!
FROM SCIENCE TO ART I was graduated as a physicist, had a scientific career in the USSR Academy of Sciences, then in Europe and finally in the UK. It is great to discover the secrets of nature, not easy but very inspiring! Apart from my interest in science as long as I can remember I have been interested in the arts. Being a scientist requires imagination and creativity, which helped me to get a step into the world of art. I am inspired by photography as a medium of self-expression. In particularly, what works for me is producing pictures showing the way how I feel about my subjects, rather than just featuring them.
